Union Cabinet approves official amendments to National Medical Commission Bill

The union cabinet has approved certain amendments to the National Medical Commission Bill, expected to replace the much criticised Medical Council Of India, following recently tabled recommendations by a parliamentary committee on the proposed legislation. The amendments include stringent punishment for quackery, removal of a bridge course that would have allowed non-allopathic doctors to practice modern medicine and regulation of fees for 50% seats at deemed universities. Cabinet approves re-structuring of NSDF and NSDC

CCEA approves continuation of Credit Guarantee Fund for Education Loans Scheme

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved continuation of the Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme for Education Loans and continuation and modification of the Central Sector Interest Subsidy (CSIS) Scheme with a financial outlay of Rs 6,600 crore for the period from 2017-18 to 2019-20.
