Union Government Revises Target To Complete PMGSY From Year 2022 To 2019

The Union Rural Development Ministry said the government has advanced its target year for completion of phase one of PMGSY, a rural road scheme, to 2019 from 2022. Roads are primary to any development agenda. The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, since its inception in 2000, has been able to provide connectivity to 1.52 lakh habitations. Kotak Mahindra Bank Pips SBI To Become Indias 2nd Most Valuable Bank

Shares of private lender Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd beat India’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) for the first time to become the second most valued bank in the country. Data from BSE showed that Kotak Mahindra Bank has a market capitalization of Rs 2,22970.40 crore after its shares closed 1.88 percent to record high of Rs 1170.05. Indian Swimmer Double Crosses Bangla Channel Sets World Record

17-year-old swimmer Sampanna Ramesh Shelar has set a world record to double cross the Bangla Channel. Shelar is the first person to swim to and fro from Saint Martin’s Island Jetty to Teknaf in Bangladesh also known as the Bangla Channel. Government launches Gram Swaraj Abhiyan

The Central Government is looking to launch seven schemes for 17,000 poor villages, under which free LPG connections, electricity supply, Jan Dhan accounts, two PM Insurance schemes and the immunization of children will be available in 21 days. This plan will be implemented in 484 districts in 33 States and Union Territories.
